Will history repeat itself? 
 
Below are pictures of the same property involved in the new mining proposal. 
This previous mining activity was a major contributor to the environmental decline of the Casselman River. The landowner(s) involved allowed the property to be left in such poor condition that it resulted in severe Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) into the Casselman River.  The damage to the Casselman's ecology was dramatic, extensive, and long term.  Did you know that the Maryland Department of the Environment - Bureau of Mines is now considering the approval of encroachments and destructions of wetlands and protective setbacks for this new mining activity - all of which involve the same landowner of the previous mining disaster!
